Digital Watercolor with Procreate

I’ve been painting a lot lately and I am officially in love with a new watercolor technique that I want to share. A couple of months ago, I decided to work on my watercolor skills, that were basically non-existent. I quickly remembered how difficult watercolor is, yet with all of its challenges, how super fun and satisfying it can be. I set up a table with all my supplies in the bonus room upstairs and I painted every single day. I even traveled to the beach house with all my paint supplies and continued painting everyday.

As a result of my new found love, I decided to branch out from my watercolor paper and dip my toe into digital watercolor. Let me say that it was a huge learning curve, but I quickly fell more deeply in love with watercolor, via this method. The application I’ve been using is Procreate for the IPad Pro, along with a variety of purchased watercolor brushes. There weren’t many tutorials that I found helpful, so I just learned via trial and error. Most importantly, I have been practicing, practicing, practicing EVERY SINGLE DAY. With this daily work, I’m becoming faster and more skilled. Painting everything from fruit to furniture has been my strategy to learn what I most enjoy and which “swim lane” best suits me.

So here we go… I’m going to start posting my work here on my old beloved blog. I’m EVEN going to get back on Facebook and post to Pinterest. Therefore, if you like what you see, drop me a comment and leave feedback but please don’t make me cry ☺️. I’m seriously considering selling limited edition prints and would love to know your thoughts! You can see my artwork from the past couple of months on my Instagram feed here.
