Today’s project: Hem my new white jeans so they are ready to be worn this FALL season!
I’m here to tell you that it is okay to wear white bottoms after Labor Day! As a matter of fact, it’s rather fashion-forward to wear white pants or white jeans throughout Fall and Winter. White jeans have been trending in year-round fashion since 2012 but I really only caught on last year. I wore my white jeans a few times and I loved the look. It was very crisp and a little unexpected. If you pair white jeans with a traditional fall color or ensemble, it looks pretty sharp! My favorite look with white denim is a dark chambray shirt and blazer, finished off with a cognac boot or bootie. Here are a few of my other favorite Fall/Winter White Jean looks…
Last year, I liked the white Fall look so much that I bought a new pair of boot-cut white jeans, just for FALL. Of course, they were 2 1/2 inches too long (even with my highest wedges) but never fear, I hemmed them in 30 minutes this afternoon. I have the quickest, easiest HEM TRICK and I’m going to walk you through each step in my tutorial, below.
I’m ready to break some old-fashioned fashion rules! Anybody care to join me?
First of all, try on your jeans and turn up the bottom to the desired length. Pin the jeans. Take them off and be careful not to poke yourself with the pin.
Now measure the cuffed part that you turned up. My jeans measure 2.5 inches

Divide that number in half to get your official “turn up” measurement. Mine is 1.25 inches.
Now turn the jeans up (mine get 1.25 inches) all the way around and pin them, as shown.
Sew along the edge of the original hem (as shown).
Then, fold the hem back to normal and press with a steaming hot iron.
This is what they look like all finished, see how the hem matches the stitching on the pockets? That’s because I simply reattached the original hem… without ever removing it in the first place!
Here’s my mirror selfie, with my new white jeans and my favorite wedges.
