If you read my blog, you know that we are currently undergoing a complete kitchen remodel. The project isn’t compete quite yet but I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The cabinets have been installed and the new pantry cabinets are going to be amazing. I started working on organizing them last week. I started with my most used spices, placing them in a drawer next to the stove top. Here’s a photo and link to that post, in case you missed it…
The spice drawer is going to be great, but it doesn’t hold everything. I have about 22 different spices so I’m storing my “less used stuff” in the pantry, on a stair-step shelf from Target. I also bought several boxes of 4 oz. jars from Target (see photo below).
I created name labels using my Silhouette Cameo machine and red colored self-adhesive vinyl. The font used is “Janda Elegant Handwriting”. I love that font and I think the red lettering adds a fun touch.
I transferred the vinyl to the jars using Silhouette transfer paper.

I love working with Happy Crafters Vinyl (affiliate, see here.) It is the best vinyl, hands down. It never gets gummy, like some of the other vinyl does. It is so easy to use. When you are working with small, detailed letters, you need a good adhesive vinyl and this one is the best that I’ve ever used.
Above, I used a few larger jars for more frequently used spices, that I like to buy in bulk, such as chili powder, garlic salt and other seasonings.
I’m so excited about this new storage system. I put everything on the shelves alphabetically, making it super quick and easy to find anything I need!

February 17, 2016 at 5:36 pmI am getting ready to do the same thing with my spices – putting them in small mason jars. My question for you is since none of the jars have shakers on the top like spice bottles do, are you just using spoons to measure out the spice or did you do a make shift shaker underneath the cap? Thanks in advance – Cindy

February 18, 2016 at 4:02 pmHi Cindy,
I do not have any kind of shaker on mine. I just use measuring spoons. I love the fact that the opening on these jars is large enough to even fit a tablespoon. In the past, I always found myself removing the shakers on store bought spice jars so this method works great for me. Thanks for your comment!
